Legalization and Aposille

Legalization of a document is required to give hereto legal effect on the territory of another state. Thus, in order to send any document issued within the territory of the Russian Federation abroad you must it legalize.

Matter of legalization is lies in certification of the authorities, authenticity of the signature and in some cases authenticity of the seal or the stamp of the officer who issued the document.

There are two kinds of legalization: Apostille and Consular Legalization.

Apostille is made by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation in case the country where the document is intended for (destination country) is a party of Convention de la Haye du 5 octobre 1961.

Otherwise of the document shall be legalized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Consular of the destination country.

The documents provided for legalization are requested some things, to be executed, also you should take into account that no legalization is required for some countries*. Moreover, some documents may not be legalized, they may be certified by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the destination country.

Model of the Apostille

The model of the Apostille is established by the Convention that revokes requirement in legalization of foreign official documents (concluded in Hague on 05.0.61, it took legal effect for Russia on 31.05.92). Apostille has a square form; a side thereof is not less than 9 cm.
